Susan’s Top Reads of 2016

For All the Evers
by Debra Anastasia

You know a book is going to be great when the dedication at the beginning makes you cry! This book was amazing, I devoured it in one sitting, I really didn’t want it to end. You really are taken on a roller coaster of emotions, there’s a lot going on in the story, it’s more than just a romance. You will need tissues handy as you will cry! The story is truly unique, I won’t discuss the plot as you really need to go into this book blind, you just need to hold on and enjoy the ride! It is one of the best books I’ve read so far this year, give it a go, you won’t be disappointed.

Trying Sophie: A Dublin Rugby Romance (Dublin Rugby #1)
by Rebecca Norinne

Wow, this book totally blew me away! I devoured it in one sitting, I was hooked from the first page. I loved Declan and Sophie, Declan is a pro rugby player and a total man whore! He doesn’t do commitment or do overs, he’s not called the machine for nothing. Sophie is a travel blogger, living the dream but family ties bring her back to Ireland. Declan and Sophie first meet as children and Declan is a total arse to her, she’s never forgotten ( or forgiven him) Declan has been in love with her for years and is hoping to start a relationship with her. The chemistry between them is off the charts and literally scorches the pages, the sex scenes are sizzling hot! Can they get their happy ever after? you will have to read to find out! I can’t recommend this book highly enough, it’s not just another sports romance, it’s more than that. An amazing read that’s packed full of highs, lows, disagreements but a lot of humour too. If you only read one book this year, please make it this one! I seriously can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Keepin’ The Faith
by Beth Rinyu

I loved this book, there’s lots of laugh out loud moments. I fell in love with Faith, she’s a single mam trying to make ends meet, her ex is a total duche! I really didn’t like him and was shouting at my kindle at times as some of the decisions Faith made when around Cole were questionable! I loved Sylvia, she took faith and joey into her embrace and with a little meddling became Faiths fairy godmother! I can’t recommend this book highly enough, if you’re feeling down this book will definitely pick you up!

The Studying Hours (How to Date a Douchebag, #1)
by Sara Ney

Wow, just Wow! I loved this book, I laughed so much reading this, I think I wet myself a few times! Oz, is so cocky, arrogant and if he was a bar of chocolate he would eat himself! When we first meet him he has no endearing qualities at all, but by the end of the book I flipping loved him. Jameson, she has to be my favourite heroine ever, I want to be her when I grow up! She is a beautiful, Cardigan wearing, feisty, sarcastic woman who grabbed Oz by the balls and played him at his own game. I can’t recommend this book highly enough, one of my favourites so far this year. Wish I could give it more than 5 *.

by Heather Dahlgren

I’ll start by saying I don’t normally read books about rock stars, not my cup of tea, but I was so pleased I gave this book a go as I was blown away! I loved Fitz, he was so unexpected. Yes he was cocky and arrogant but when he was with Brooklyn he was so vulnerable and tried so hard to be the man she needed. There were times I wanted to hug Fitz and tell him to hang on as the wait would be worth it. The chemistry between Fitz and Brooklyn nearly melted my kindle! The rest of the band were just as amazing as Fitz and provide some light moments. The story draws you in and spits you out at the end leaving you with one hell of a book hangover and a new book boyfriend!

Like a Boss (Like a Boss, #1)
by Logan Chance

This is one of the best books I’ve read this year, it’s amazing! I devoured it in one sitting, I was taken on an emotional roller coaster and spat out at the end. Everything about this book is perfect, the sex scenes literally scorch the pages. Told in dual point of view, which I love. But the ending, why, WHY!!! If the author had been standing in front of me when I finished I would of punched him! A great debut novel and I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Wish I could give it more than 5*

The Hard Count
by Ginger Scott

If you liked the TV show Friday night lights, you will love this book. The story follows Reagan Prescott, the coaches daughter and twin sister of QB1. Smart, Beautiful and dreaming of going to film school. Reagan makes a documentary of the highs/lows and everything in between of Cornwall football team. Nico Medina, handsome, smart, from the wrong side of the tracks but gifted in sport. Enemies to friends to lovers, the story is simply beautiful. The secondary characters are amazing, I was just as invested in their stories as I was Reagan and Nico. If you love sports romance, this is a must read.It is a slow burn but that makes it more realistic. An unforgettable read, one of the best books I’ve read so far this year.

LIE, The Right Men Book #1
by Mayra Statham

I loved this book from start to finish, I was totally hooked. Lie is a sweet, romantic, full of feels read, It will make you laugh, swoon and cry. I loved Grace, she was so sassy and strong. Marcus is a typical alpha male and used to getting his own way. Their first meeting is hilarious, I literally cried laughing. The pair together scorch the pages, the chemistry between them is off the charts! Marcus makes a stupid bet with his brothers about Grace, a decision he will live to regret. I loved the background characters, this book sets them up perfectly to get their own books. I can’t recommend this book highly enough, one of my favourite reads of 2016.

Chasing Butterflies
by Terri E. Laine

Wow, such a beautiful story but with a dark undertone. Kelly Moore is a survivor, how he’s still standing at the end of the book is beyond me! He’s suffered more in his 20+yrs than most do in a full life time. Lenny loves kelly but they are ripped apart only to meet 4yrs later. I won’t say anything else as I don’t want to spoil the story. This is a story of second chances, the type of love you only find once in your life. There are a few twists that you don’t see coming and the ending is perfect… sigh. . . By the end of the book you will be chasing your own butterflies.

This Old Heart of Mine
by A.J. Compton

Wow, what an emotional ride reading this book took me on. 2 pages in I was ugly crying and had to step away from my kindle! Though this story will rip your heart out and stomp on it, it is so beautiful I don’t really have the words to describe it. The reader is taken on an incredible journey with Ava and Gabriel, the poetry is so powerful and emotional it seeps into your heart. This is a story that will stay with you long after you’ve finished reading it, it’s a must read.

Live By The Team (Team Fear #1)
by Cindy Skaggs

I loved this book so much, it’s definitely one of my favourites so far this year. I was hooked right from the beginning and hung on for the ride of my life. I loved Ryder, I totally understood why he left Lauren but I was so pleased she gave him a second chance. There were lots of twists and turns through the book, one I didn’t see coming at all. Ryder is the ultimate alpha male and a kick ass warrior as well. Lauren is no pushover and after what she goes through in this book I’m surprised she was still standing at the end! This is a wonderful, action packed read and an amazing start to a new series. I can’t wait to read more about team fear.

ICE (Elite Forces, #1)
by Hilary Storm, Kathy Coopmans

Wow! I loved this book, from the first sentence you are sucked straight in and kept there till the end. Maverick is a hot as hell alpha with a dirty mouth and he’s not afraid to use it! Jade is totally badass and tough as nails. She’s amazing! You are taken on a roller coaster of emotions, but the ending….. Nooooo! can you say cliffhanger? This is an amazing start to the series and I can’t wait till April to read more about Fire and Ice.

Emancipation (Pen Pals and Serial Killers Book 1)
by Jo Michaels

Wow, just Wow. I don’t really have the words to describe this book, I’ve never read anything like it before. The book is brilliantly written and draws you in from the start. Jess is wonderfully sweet and I was scared for her through most of the book as you know what Tobias has planned for her. Tobias is creepy, sick and twisted but by the end I did feel a bit sorry for him. I don’t think I breathed through the last few chapters! The ending blew me away, left me with a huge book hangover and kept me thinking about it for days after. Well done Jo Michaels, this is the best book I’ve ever read!
