Susan’s Top of 2017

I read and reviewed over 300 books last year, I had quite a few 5 star reads but these are the books that stayed with me long after I finished reading them.

OMG!! I LOVED this book, it is on the short side but it certainly packs a punch. I was sucked straight into the story and spat out at the end!! Aston is a blonde, blue eyed, twisted SOB , but boy was I jealous of Kadence!! From the minute he set eyes on her she was his, Kadence knew she should run far from him, but after one taste she’s hooked. The chemistry between them is off the charts and the sexy times, oh my, they melted my kindle!! I loved the relationship he had with his brothers, they look after each even though they are a bit twisted! You certainly wouldn’t want to meet them in a dark alley. I loved how they accepted Kadence into their family and treat her as one of there own. The story is a bit dark and I wish it was longer, I could have cried when it ended! I can’t wait to read the next book in this series, wish I could give more than 5 stars.

Wow, I really enjoyed this book, I read it in one sitting. It’s a bit different from the books I usually read, it’s got a few twists and turns that keep you turning the page and it’s a bit of a slow burn romance too. I loved the characters, Weston is a bit gruff and standoffish but as the book moves on we see a softer side to him. Kate is quite feisty, doesn’t take any crap and is not to be underestimated. The background characters are likable and enhance the story, but the ending!! WHY!!!! Please don’t make us wait long for the next book, my nerves couldn’t take it. A great read which I highly recommend.

When I read the blurb for this book I though it would be a boy meets girl, typical YA story, boy was I wrong! I was sucked straight into the story from the first page, I couldn’t put it down, it follows Judd and Sunny. Judd was your typical popular jock, till his world is rocked and he’s made an outcast. Sunny is a quiet girl, but with a huge heart and a spark inside her that no matter what, could not be put out. Sunny really was an old soul in a young body, every one should have a friend like her. I loved the slow burn between them, there’s an instant attraction, but they are allies first and foremost. This book is so full of feels, even though they are having a hard time there’s still some swoon worthy moments. There’s a few twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, but karma always gets her own back! This story will truly touch your heart and keep you thinking about it long after you finish, it’s one of my favorite books so far this year.

Wow, just wow! This book was amazing, it truly was an emotional, powerful, heart wrenching but beautiful read. The non-fiction part is really heartbreaking to read at times, but it’s a story that needs to be told and never forgotten. The fiction part is beautifully written, I loved Emma, I was so pleased she left her bad relationship behind and gave Jackson a chance ( with a little help from Amelia!) I, like Jackson, couldn’t wait to read more from Amelia’s diary. I really felt as if I was there with her, I ugly cried at times but there was also a little humor that made me giggle! Charlie, what an amazing man he was, I’m pleased he got his ending with Amelia, just wished it had been sooner. This really is one of the best books I’ve read this year, at times I was left speechless, the author truly put her heart and soul into the story. If you only read one book this year, please make it this one, you won’t be disappointed, I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

Wow, this book is amazing! It draws you in from the start, you are taken on a roller coaster of emotions and spat out at the end. It’s a romance story set against a backdrop of pain, emotional turmoil and family secrets that when revealed destroy relationships and families. The story pulls on your heart strings and is full of feels, keep tissues handy as you will need them! Taylor and Lola have both been through hell, both dealing with their problems differently, both barely getting by. Together they shouldn’t work, but they mesh together beautifully, they have a powerful chemistry between them. The path to true love never runs smooth, these two have more hurdles to overcome than most to get a happy ever after. Lola has to find a way to remember, Taylor needs to stop his self-destructive ways. Told in dual point of view, at times it’s hard to read as their inner thoughts literally gut you. This is a beautiful, love story with real life problems and emotions that will have you invested in Taylor and Lola’s relationship and rooting for them to find their way. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but it won’t be the last, this is one of my favorite books so far this year. 5 amazing stars!

This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone, this book was awesome! I seriously couldn’t put it down, I laughed, cried and swooned while reading this. Joel, although a Hollywood actor is really sweet, not what I was imagining. Alessandra sees right through him from the start, as a single Mam she has more to think about than herself so tries to put distance between them. Joel does everything in his power to break down her walls, you can’t help but fall in love with him! Will Joel get the girl? You will have to read to find out!!

Wow, just wow!! I knew going into this book it would be emotional but I still was not prepared for what the author put me through. The book starts exactly where the previous book finishes, we know Bella has died but not the fate of Noah, Mel or their unborn baby Nate. I’m not going to say anymore as you need to go into this book blind, if there are any reviews with spoilers please don’t read them!! Just make sure you are sitting comfortably, have plenty of alcohol and an endless supply of tissues! At times I felt as if my heart had been ripped out, shredded and then handed back to me. Just when I thought all the crying had finished, Dee pulled something else out of the bag and the tears would start again!! This is the end of a seriously amazing series, I’m sad that it’s come to an end but I can’t wait to see what awesomeness the author comes up with next.

Christine’s Top of 2017

2017 was a great year in romance.  I read a little over 125 works of art and these 15 touched my soul.  I laughed, I cried, I cheered & I cursed and overall I fell in love with reading a little more this year because of this beautiful stories.  Thank you!

33671835Gravity by Lauren Runow is a beautifully told friends to lovers story told over 20 years. Weaving a tale of two kids friendship that turns to romantic feelings with time, it’s poetically heartbreaking at times but utterly breathtaking in equal parts. Trevin life hasn’t been easy, raised in an abusive household he had always found a safe place with his best friend and neighbour Lily. Lily holds her relationship with Trevin close to her heart and she wants nothing but to see him succeed in life. As time passes friendship turns into love and lines are blurred. Dreams are followed, success is had but when you follow someone else’s dream do you lose yourself in the process?

Oh man, did I ever love this book! This is so different than anything Lauren has published before and I was addicted from the first chapter. Gravity pulled me in and didn’t let me go till the final page on an emotional roller-coaster ride. Trevin’s story broke me and watching him struggle to find himself and love Lily the way she deserves affected me to the core. Lily love for Trevin is so raw and pure that she’s willing to forgo her own dreams until she starts to lose herself in the journey and question the end game. Gravity and one of those stories that stick with you and 5 books later I’m still thinking about it and these moving characters. 5 Stars for Gravity by Lauren Runow

33860257My Image of You by Melanie Moreland is a fresh, original romance that shattered my heart and slowly pieced it back together. I was worried that I wasn’t going to be able to connect with the story due to a male POV and I was dead wrong. I couldn’t put down this stunning romance with a twist.

Adam Kincaid always lived on the edge as a freelance photographer. After injuring himself on a job Adam can’t help but be drawn to the quick wit nurse at a Toronto ER. Alexandra Robbins doesn’t feel like she’s living life for herself until she meets Adam. Adam brings out her true self and encourages Alexandra to live her life as she wants until he takes one last freelance job overseas and everything changes when Adam comes home.

Wow, Melanie has blown me away yet again! I couldn’t put this story down. I was so gripped to these characters I needed to know what happens next and will Adam and Alexandra get a HEA. Alexandra and Alex’s chemistry ignited off the page from the very beginning and you can’t help falling for Alex’s swoon worthy ways. Do yourself a favor and grab this must read of 2017! 5 Stars for My Image Of You by Melanie Moreland

Altercation by Mignon Mykel is a passionate, emotional tale of two souls connection against odds. This story should be read after enjoying Troublemaker (Porter’s Story) & Breakaway (Asher’s Story) which Altercation picks up right where these two novella’s leave off and spans 4 years flawlessly.

I love slow burn romances that really let you feel what the characters are going through and connection they feel for each other. Mignon has nailed that down to the T in Altercation. The perfect amount of angst, heat and at times humor, Altercation is a rollercoaster of a romance. Porter is a swoon worthy hero who cares so deeply for Asher he puts aside his own sexual desires to love her the way she needs to be. Asher’s life has changed so much and being welcomed into the Prescott family finds her healing from her past and looking towards the future – possibly a future with Porter. We are left with a cliffhanger but with Holding due out in days we won’t suffer long. I had high expectations after reading the prequel novella’s and Altercation met and exceeded everything I hoped for in this story. Now to sit tight for Holding – I’m literally in a holding pattern! 5 Epic Stars for Altercation by Mignon Mykel

Holding by Mignon Mykel is heartbreaking tale of love & loss and the odds stacked against them with the hope that in the end love will concur all. Holding is the send half of Mignon’s Playmaker Duet and picks up right after Altercation left off and jumps right into the action. I normally give a little blurb of the story but I honestly don’t wanna give away a single thing about this story. Reading Holding put me on a roller-coaster of emotions and I couldn’t put it down and read it entirely in one sitting. Even though at times I wanted to give the main characters a smack to smarten them up I understood why each did what they did throughout the story. I felt their reasons for and enjoyed the ride this story took me on over this duet and loved seeing more of the Prescott family we’ve grown to love. Mignon has created an outstanding duet that compliment each other perfectly and will keep the reader glued to the story till the end. 5 “Always” stars for Holding by Mignon Mykel

34328945 At times you read a book that touches your soul. One that hits all the bases for a number one romance and Claudia Burgoa has done it again with Until I Fall. Claudia has written a stunning love story set around heartbreaking loss and overcoming grief but with hope and promise of tomorrows. Aspen & Anderson have such a strong connection and a way of healing each other that you’ll get drawn into the their story from the first chapter. Aspen is a strong female lead but so broken that she’s thrown herself into her work and forgot to live for herself for far to long. When Anderson comes into her life, Aspen doesn’t want to love but love finds her. Anderson is a swoon worthy Hero that anyone would be hard pressed not to fall for. Strong, ex-military turned tattoo artist, Anderson heals Aspen but also finds that she grounds him when he least expects it. I loved this beautifully layered romance that didn’t follow the stereotypical formula. Once I picked up this story I was hooked and wanted to know how Aspen & Anderson’s story would end. I did squeal like school girl when Mason and the men of HIB Securities! I love that we are now seeing characters from Claudia’s Unexpected series showing up in her new stories and weaving together new and characters we already love. I know I won’t be the only one waiting on the edge of my seat for the next installment of HIB Securities… 5 “M&M” Stars ~ A top Read of 2017 for Until I Fall from Claudia Burgoa

35177600Grown Woman by Jen Luerssen is a feisty, hilarious & sweet journey to find love and and purpose in life. Lia is looking for purpose and change in her life after what seems like everyone around her is starting to settle down. At almost 30, Lia decides to go back to school to change careers and switch up her motto for dating and focus on herself. That’s until she makes fast friends with some classmates and can’t resist Javier charm but the age difference is throwing Lia off. What the heart wants is what the heart wants…

I simply adored this story and at times I was laughing so hard I couldn’t breathe. Jen has a way of weaving a beautiful story that grips you and the perfect amount of humor to keep you glued to your Kindle. I felt for Lia, as at her age I was single and wondering if I’d ever find my soulmate and the horrors of dating. The connection between Lia & Javier heated up my Kindle and I loved following their journey. 5 “Poppy” stars for Grown Woman by Jen Luerssen ~ a must read for 2017!

35436554Broken Lyric by R.B. Hillard broke me and then mended my heart back together all the while I couldn’t put this stunning story down! The second installment in the Meltdown series blew me away and it’s hard to top Fractured Beat but Nash is my new book boyfriend. Not only we have a stunning romance but these books always have a twist with a crime element/mystery and Broken Lyric gripped me from page one. Rowan’s backstory was heart breaking and reading her evolution and opening herself up to Nash warmed my heart. Secondary characters are just as interesting ~ Nash’s Mom is a complete sweetheart. Rowan & Nash’s chemistry is off the charts and I was cheering them on and honestly did a happy dance when it finally happened. I can’t wait for the next installment in this series and see who’s next. 5 Stars ~ deserves 10 Stars ~ for Broken Lyric by R.B. Hillard

26148519Don’t Speak by Katy Regnery is a emotionally charged modern day twist on “The Little Mermaid”. Laire, from a fisherman’s family on the outer banks of North Carolina, has dreams bigger than the small community she’s grown up in. When Laire bumps into the handsome governors son, Erik, she can’t help to give in to his charm. With one look Erik fell for the feisty strawberry blond beauty with mesmerizing eyes but winning her over will be a challenge like he’s never experienced before in this love story for the ages.

This was my first read from Katy Regnery and I’m hooked! I want to go back and read her other fairy-tales retold now that I’ve enjoyed this book so much. Even though we know the classic story Katy’s twist on the tale was gripping and fresh I couldn’t put the story down from 45% on. Laire’s evolution from young naive 18 year old to strong, independent woman who reaches for her goals in just a few years. Erik’s emotional reaction to events broke me – I truly loved his character and fell for him hard. How could you not? He’s a prince. These two characters had me from the first moment they met and I enjoyed the slow burn romance with stunningly beautiful sex scenes, so well written with complete care for the characters. I laughed, I cried, I screamed and I fell in love all over again. 5 forever stars for Don’t Speak by Katy Regnery

29622102Letters to Lincoln by Tracie Podger is an emotional story of loss, healing and learning to love again. This was my first read by author Tracie Podger and I’ve been gutted. Tracie has created a beautifully layered story that had a couple of twists and turns I never saw coming. I don’t want to give anything about the story away but the blurb is spot on and gives you an excellent idea of the story.

Dani is broken by a horrific event at the beginning of this story and follow her journey to healing throughout the story. Meeting characters who will impact Dani’s journey, some for the better some causing more pain. I personally don’t know what I’d do if the events of Letter to Lincoln happened to myself but I hope I’d have Dani’s strength to carry on. 5 Honesty Box stars for Letters to Lincoln by Tracie Podger

Wanderer by Janine Infante Bosco is a heartbreakingly emotional second chance romance between childhood sweethearts who’ve experienced more pain in their short lives than most see in an entire lifetime. Twists and turns will shock and surprise readers either new to the series or long time fans of Janine’s work. Wanderer can be read as a standalone to new readers though I think it’s better enjoyed if you’ve read Janine’s previous series “Temptations” and the earlier novel “Drifter” in the “Nomads” series as story lines are entangled and layered.

Cobra, known in his previous life as Jagger Richardson, has led a painful life. Losing his sister and parents have changed the path he wanted for himself to a darker road. With revenge in his heart, Cobra gave up that what was closest to him and has haunted him for years. Returning home and joining Satans Knights – Brooklyn MC chapter, he forced to face his past and a glimmer of a future. Celeste grew up loving Jagger and even though their youth was marred by violence and pain she stuck by him, the man she gave her first’s too. Living with the guilt of the loss of her best friend, Celeste chose to live her life as her friend would have which has weighed her down over the years. A bad date, a rescue and night of passion change her life forever but will Cobra’s return be what she needs or will old wounds be opened up again.

Oh my God! This book destroyed me. So many twists and turns layered into the complex (not in a confusing way) story which spans 12 years. Janine is a master at interweaving her past work and laying the groundwork for new surprises. I ran the range of emotions while reading Wanderer and found this story to be an emotional roller-coaster of a ride. Cobra was my ultimate bad boy and Celeste was beyond perfect match to his alpha ways. 5 “Mine” stars for Wanderer by Janine Infante Bosco ~ a top read of 2017!

Roamer by Janine Infante Bosco is the third installment in her Nomad series and it will blow your mind. I’ve been hooked on Janine’s writing since Forbidden Temptations and with each new story I’m blown away with how beautiful layered and interconnected each additional story is. Connecting not only the previous books story-lines but giving us glimpses of what we thought we already knew but from the point of view of other characters. Roamer is a heartbreakingly emotional tale of two lost souls who connect through each others pain. I knew this story was going to be intense but I didn’t expect to be knocked off my center following Ally & Deuce journey. Their chemistry is beyond epic and even though I think this was a tamer story for Janine and it fit these characters perfectly. Hands down this story is a must read for 2017. 5 “Match Burning” Stars for Roamer by Janine Infante Bosco

businessman working on laptop in black suit Pucked Off by Helena Hunting is an emotionally gripping with all the feels we love in great romances. Did we think we’d get anything less than that with Lance “Romance” Romero story? H-E-Double Hockey Sticks NO! Lance has a reputation for excess with partying and women topping that list. With a painful past behind him and a career he loves, Lance should have it all but something is missing. She’s missing, the one who grounds him, the one who balances him. Will his darkness cloud her light and overwhelm her or will she bring out his true self?

Beyond my wildest expectations, this story was. I had a feeling Lance’s story would blow me away but I never expected to fall for Lance this hard. I can’t even count the number of times I wanted to give Lance a hug and tell him it would be OK. Pucked Off was finished in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down and if I tried I couldn’t get Lance off my mind. Lance’s heroine was a perfect match for him. Don’t worry you’ll find out who she is by the 4th chapter. I loved the back and forth verbal play these two characters do throughout the story, it’s almost like a dance. I could go on and on about this book but honestly just go grab it. 5 Gummy Bear Stars for Pucked Off by Helena Hunting

32597335 Because It’s You by Lindsay Paige is a sweet, emotional read with just the right amount of heat. This is the second book in Lindsay’s Carolina Rebels series and can be read as a standalone even though we met Marc Polinski in Back To Me, book one in the series.

Marc Polinski, hockey player with NHL’s Rebels, doesn’t do flings. Marc is more of the relationship kind of guy but after a Halloween party one-night stand he can’t get “Poison Ivy” off his mind. Always a fun loving guy, Marc can’t believe he’s found her but his charms aren’t working like he thought they would. Elizabeth Boyd has scars which have found her morning the loss of her high-school sweetheart husband for years. A night of lost inhibitions has Elizabeth head spinning because as much as she enjoys Marc the guilt of moving on is confusing her and making her wonder if she should be happy with someone else.

Wow, this book was like a gut punch in the emotional department. Elizabeth’s guilt and demons are so rough that it would be hard for anyone to over come them but if anyone can it’s the fun loving Marc who can make that happen. Marc is just as lovable as when we first met him in Back To Me and that love only grows more as you read his story. Over coming his own demons and helping heal Elizabeth only rises his book boyfriend status to epic. This book was beyond my expectations and kept me glued to my kindle. 5 Marco Polo stars for Because It’s You by Lindsay Paige

32879795 True Abandon by Jeannine Colette is a beautifully poetic second chance romance that deals with timely issues about privacy and social media. Two high school sweethearts who haven’t seen each other in years are thrown together, forced to face the truth that one mistake years ago changed their lives but didn’t change their hearts. True Abandon has such a beautiful setting which is like another character in the story which allows us to feel like we are right there along side the characters as they travel around Hawaii. I adored this story! You’ll laugh, cry and maybe just wanna punch Jackson a few times but I highly recommend taking a chance on this story if you are new to Jeannine’s writing but I’m sure you’ll want to read the entire series (all standalone titles). 5 Stars – a must read of 2017 – for True Abandon by Jeannine Colette

33027488 Tainted by Love from Gillian Jones is a emotional tale of friendship, love and living life to it’s fullest with a hint of angst. This story deals with a dark topic, HIV & AIDS, and may possibly have emotional triggers for some readers so please be aware this story might not be for everyone.

Trinity Adams fell in love in University for the first time and trusted her boyfriend implicitly. Years pass and a youthful risk will forever change Trinity’s life turning her down a different path. Even with medical advancements Trinity finds it hard to see a picture perfect future and would she find someone willing to risk their own life too? Hendrix Hills feels like it’s time to settle down and focus on his future. Hendrix has always wanted to own his own repair shop and when Ignition Inc. becomes available it’s too good to pass up on the chance. Agreeing to take on it’s employee’s Hendrix didn’t expect to fall for Trinity but her feisty nature drew him in and she consumes his thoughts. Will she let him in or will Hendrix be friendzoned?

Oh my this book destroyed me. Tainted by Love is beyond beautiful, gut wrenchingly painful and a story that needed to be told. The blurb and the cover sold me on this story but I didn’t expect to be so moved. I honestly had to take tear breaks at the end – I couldn’t read my kindle through the tears. I could see myself in the young Trinity taking chances just getting lucky on the other side. Hendrix is beyond swoon worthy – hands off he’s mine! I couldn’t put this book down and when I finished it not only was it hard to stop the tears it took me over an hour to calm down. This isn’t your traditional HEA but I couldn’t have pictured it go another way. 5 Fruitloop Stars for Tainted by Love from Gillian Jones

❤️The Day She Cried By K Webster .. I can’t stop crying I’m writing this review with tears. Ever read a book that you know you will never ever forget? This is that book.  There are 3 main characters in this book Raven, Rome and Courtney and K Webster has totally made me feel every single one of them just by her words. The world we live in just by one word or one thing someone does can change your life like a snap. I read this book straight thru without stopping and I feel emotionally wrecked. If you choose to read one book this year read this one. I’m even letting my teenage kids read this book because I know it will open there eyes to see how painful this world truly is , but also will teach them even more. No one should ever be afraid to be themselves. I was a Raven and Courtney until I found my wolf who help me believe in myself. This book is heartbreaking, heartfelt and definitely speaks at your soul. If I could give this 10 stars I would. Definitely is my top emotional book I’ve ever read. 5/5 stars

❤️Unloved By Katy Regnery .. Katy Regnery blew me away! Ever read a story that touches your heart so much you can’t stop crying and want to go into the book and hug the characters? This is that book. Two characters Brynn going through pain for 2 years and then Cassidy his pain had been in his life since was little a daily reminder that he will always be unloved. These characters touched my soul and opened and crushed my heart to pieces. I felt there pain and there torment. Katy Regnery showed us what happens when two damaged souls meet each other and what love truly does mean. This a book I will truly never forget. If I could give this book 10 stars I would. 5/5 stars in my top read for 2017

❤️The Ghostwriter By Alessandra Torre ..Ghostwriter is a book to go into with a open mind. I was shocked and so deep into reading I couldn’t put it down. I felt like I was writing Helen’s story and feeling everything thru her eyes. This isn’t a romance story it’s full of heartache, lies and hidden life. This book really opened my eyes to how we see people from the outside but do we truly know someone? Or is everyone just full of lies and hiding the real them? The author gave me chills and I even had to stop reading at one point because I was so shocked and shaking. A very unique story that has you gripping your kindle till the end. 5/5 stars  definitely in my top 2017 Reads for its uniqueness

❤️Forget Me Not By Willow Winters .. I’m blown away. This is my favorite book of Willow Winters she’s ever written! It’s unbelievable the emotions Willow puts you threw its like your on a roller-coaster just waiting to fall. Robin , my heart broke for her and then I felt her strength and love. Then there is Jay I never wanted to hug and love a character so much like I did him. Two broken people that one needs his little bird and other needs her wolf.  If you love shocking and very intense romance stories this is one you definitely don’t wanna pass up.  In my top 2017 best books of the year 5/5 stars deserves a 10

❤️Complicated Hearts By Ashley Jade .. Ashley Jade has blown my mind. This book is exactly the title Complicated . It’s a shocking page turner and so much more. Ashley totally got me tongue twisted and hot that you need a cold shower after reading this story. Breslin, Landon, Asher three people with love/hate for each other and so many secrets that makes life so complicated that you wanna pull your hair out and just hope things will get less complicated till it gets even worse. Who will get hurt? Who will finally put everything out in the open? Wow I’m sitting here and my mind keeps going in circles thinking how angst and drama this book is Ashley really mind screwed us and dug herself into something I never would have ever thought could have happened. Susan’s Top Reads of 2016

For All the Evers
by Debra Anastasia

You know a book is going to be great when the dedication at the beginning makes you cry! This book was amazing, I devoured it in one sitting, I really didn’t want it to end. You really are taken on a roller coaster of emotions, there’s a lot going on in the story, it’s more than just a romance. You will need tissues handy as you will cry! The story is truly unique, I won’t discuss the plot as you really need to go into this book blind, you just need to hold on and enjoy the ride! It is one of the best books I’ve read so far this year, give it a go, you won’t be disappointed.

Trying Sophie: A Dublin Rugby Romance (Dublin Rugby #1)
by Rebecca Norinne

Wow, this book totally blew me away! I devoured it in one sitting, I was hooked from the first page. I loved Declan and Sophie, Declan is a pro rugby player and a total man whore! He doesn’t do commitment or do overs, he’s not called the machine for nothing. Sophie is a travel blogger, living the dream but family ties bring her back to Ireland. Declan and Sophie first meet as children and Declan is a total arse to her, she’s never forgotten ( or forgiven him) Declan has been in love with her for years and is hoping to start a relationship with her. The chemistry between them is off the charts and literally scorches the pages, the sex scenes are sizzling hot! Can they get their happy ever after? you will have to read to find out! I can’t recommend this book highly enough, it’s not just another sports romance, it’s more than that. An amazing read that’s packed full of highs, lows, disagreements but a lot of humour too. If you only read one book this year, please make it this one! I seriously can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Keepin’ The Faith
by Beth Rinyu

I loved this book, there’s lots of laugh out loud moments. I fell in love with Faith, she’s a single mam trying to make ends meet, her ex is a total duche! I really didn’t like him and was shouting at my kindle at times as some of the decisions Faith made when around Cole were questionable! I loved Sylvia, she took faith and joey into her embrace and with a little meddling became Faiths fairy godmother! I can’t recommend this book highly enough, if you’re feeling down this book will definitely pick you up!

The Studying Hours (How to Date a Douchebag, #1)
by Sara Ney

Wow, just Wow! I loved this book, I laughed so much reading this, I think I wet myself a few times! Oz, is so cocky, arrogant and if he was a bar of chocolate he would eat himself! When we first meet him he has no endearing qualities at all, but by the end of the book I flipping loved him. Jameson, she has to be my favourite heroine ever, I want to be her when I grow up! She is a beautiful, Cardigan wearing, feisty, sarcastic woman who grabbed Oz by the balls and played him at his own game. I can’t recommend this book highly enough, one of my favourites so far this year. Wish I could give it more than 5 *.

by Heather Dahlgren

I’ll start by saying I don’t normally read books about rock stars, not my cup of tea, but I was so pleased I gave this book a go as I was blown away! I loved Fitz, he was so unexpected. Yes he was cocky and arrogant but when he was with Brooklyn he was so vulnerable and tried so hard to be the man she needed. There were times I wanted to hug Fitz and tell him to hang on as the wait would be worth it. The chemistry between Fitz and Brooklyn nearly melted my kindle! The rest of the band were just as amazing as Fitz and provide some light moments. The story draws you in and spits you out at the end leaving you with one hell of a book hangover and a new book boyfriend!

Like a Boss (Like a Boss, #1)
by Logan Chance

This is one of the best books I’ve read this year, it’s amazing! I devoured it in one sitting, I was taken on an emotional roller coaster and spat out at the end. Everything about this book is perfect, the sex scenes literally scorch the pages. Told in dual point of view, which I love. But the ending, why, WHY!!! If the author had been standing in front of me when I finished I would of punched him! A great debut novel and I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Wish I could give it more than 5*

The Hard Count
by Ginger Scott

If you liked the TV show Friday night lights, you will love this book. The story follows Reagan Prescott, the coaches daughter and twin sister of QB1. Smart, Beautiful and dreaming of going to film school. Reagan makes a documentary of the highs/lows and everything in between of Cornwall football team. Nico Medina, handsome, smart, from the wrong side of the tracks but gifted in sport. Enemies to friends to lovers, the story is simply beautiful. The secondary characters are amazing, I was just as invested in their stories as I was Reagan and Nico. If you love sports romance, this is a must read.It is a slow burn but that makes it more realistic. An unforgettable read, one of the best books I’ve read so far this year.

LIE, The Right Men Book #1
by Mayra Statham

I loved this book from start to finish, I was totally hooked. Lie is a sweet, romantic, full of feels read, It will make you laugh, swoon and cry. I loved Grace, she was so sassy and strong. Marcus is a typical alpha male and used to getting his own way. Their first meeting is hilarious, I literally cried laughing. The pair together scorch the pages, the chemistry between them is off the charts! Marcus makes a stupid bet with his brothers about Grace, a decision he will live to regret. I loved the background characters, this book sets them up perfectly to get their own books. I can’t recommend this book highly enough, one of my favourite reads of 2016.

Chasing Butterflies
by Terri E. Laine

Wow, such a beautiful story but with a dark undertone. Kelly Moore is a survivor, how he’s still standing at the end of the book is beyond me! He’s suffered more in his 20+yrs than most do in a full life time. Lenny loves kelly but they are ripped apart only to meet 4yrs later. I won’t say anything else as I don’t want to spoil the story. This is a story of second chances, the type of love you only find once in your life. There are a few twists that you don’t see coming and the ending is perfect… sigh. . . By the end of the book you will be chasing your own butterflies.

This Old Heart of Mine
by A.J. Compton

Wow, what an emotional ride reading this book took me on. 2 pages in I was ugly crying and had to step away from my kindle! Though this story will rip your heart out and stomp on it, it is so beautiful I don’t really have the words to describe it. The reader is taken on an incredible journey with Ava and Gabriel, the poetry is so powerful and emotional it seeps into your heart. This is a story that will stay with you long after you’ve finished reading it, it’s a must read.

Live By The Team (Team Fear #1)
by Cindy Skaggs

I loved this book so much, it’s definitely one of my favourites so far this year. I was hooked right from the beginning and hung on for the ride of my life. I loved Ryder, I totally understood why he left Lauren but I was so pleased she gave him a second chance. There were lots of twists and turns through the book, one I didn’t see coming at all. Ryder is the ultimate alpha male and a kick ass warrior as well. Lauren is no pushover and after what she goes through in this book I’m surprised she was still standing at the end! This is a wonderful, action packed read and an amazing start to a new series. I can’t wait to read more about team fear.

ICE (Elite Forces, #1)
by Hilary Storm, Kathy Coopmans

Wow! I loved this book, from the first sentence you are sucked straight in and kept there till the end. Maverick is a hot as hell alpha with a dirty mouth and he’s not afraid to use it! Jade is totally badass and tough as nails. She’s amazing! You are taken on a roller coaster of emotions, but the ending….. Nooooo! can you say cliffhanger? This is an amazing start to the series and I can’t wait till April to read more about Fire and Ice.

Emancipation (Pen Pals and Serial Killers Book 1)
by Jo Michaels

Wow, just Wow. I don’t really have the words to describe this book, I’ve never read anything like it before. The book is brilliantly written and draws you in from the start. Jess is wonderfully sweet and I was scared for her through most of the book as you know what Tobias has planned for her. Tobias is creepy, sick and twisted but by the end I did feel a bit sorry for him. I don’t think I breathed through the last few chapters! The ending blew me away, left me with a huge book hangover and kept me thinking about it for days after. Well done Jo Michaels, this is the best book I’ve ever read!

Full Tilt (Full Tilt, #1)
by Emma Scott

OMG! That was one of the most hardest story to read without crying every other page. Emma this must have been hard to write? Emma is a new author for me and man she had me from the start. Jonah and Kacey were meant to find each other and one night they did. The story starts with Jonah waking from having a heart transplant. He wakes to his mom, dad, and brother. But someone is missing Jonah’s girlfriend Audrey. His brother Theo has bad news to give him after such an ordeal, Audrey decided she couldn’t stay and left without saying anything to Jonah. See Jonah was a healthy 25 year old who traveled with friends to the ends of the earth, but on the last trip Jonah got real sick from swimming in a river and it was eating away at his heart. A year and a half later the news of the heart is bad. Jonah has months to live, he has given himself a routine and is sticking by it to finish a masterpiece of blown glass for a art gala. By day Jonah works on his glass and by night he’s a limo driver. One night while Jonah waits for his fair (a rock band) a bodyguard flies out the back door with a band member and is told to take her home, well easier said than done when the house is locked up tight. Not wanting to just leave her he decides to take her home with him. Here is where we meet Kacey and all her glory (no pun intended really). She is passed out in the back of the limo until she decides to hurl onto the floor. Jonah against policy takes the limo home to drop of Kacey but doesn’t want to leave her alone, so the limo spends the night outside his apartment too. It’s the next morning and Kacey is alive but she has no clue where she is or what exactly happened from the night before. Before I give it all away and leave you nothing, Jonah and Kacey become friends in this short amount of time but Kacey has a responsibility to the band she’s in (lead guitarist). Kacey is re-evaluating her life thanks to Jonah. This is a heart wrenching story but so worth the read. Emma I loved this story and you made it flow with each main character’s POV (my favorite way of writing lately). This year alone I have read two tear jerkers and love both of them. Emma well done!
Please pick this one up it’s way worth it but there’s no HEA and there’s a part two. You’ve been warned.

Ruthless (Lawless, #1)
by Lexi Blake

When the Lawless boys set out to do something they do it, but when Riley meets the mark bets are off. Ellie Stratton isn’t like her father (evil) she’s down to earth and that’s why Riley doesn’t like what he has to do. Ellie has a secret and so does Riley but they don’t know how the other will react so secrets stays hidden. There’s an almost immediate attraction but Ellie isn’t sure what to think of Riley, but they both have each other on their minds. Fight as Ellie may she gives into Riley. Revenge is the name of the game but who will win Ellie and Riley or Steven Castalaono? To find out pick up book 1 in the series.
Lexi did a good job making you wonder what happens next. A must read.

The Scars Keeper
by Scarlet Wolfe

The stars aligned on these two. Both have secrets but there will come a time that they will share. Scarlet this was a well written story, and I’m impressed with how you brought out stereotypes and how to possibly bring them together. The writing flows and makes the reader feel and that’s a great writer. For being a YA book I enjoyed it, I’m normally more adult but I need a break from it once in awhile. I recommend this book even if you’re not a YA reader you’ll like this one.

Romanian Mob Chronicles Box Set (Romanian Mob Chronicles #1-3)
by Kaye Blue

That was an intense read. The journey taken was not paved in gold. Vasile and Fawn were made for each other to fix each other. Fawn awake feelings in Vasile that he didn’t know existed, Vasile made Fawn feel worth and safety. Glad to see that the road not paved in gold finally became golden in the end.
O enjoyed Fall as much as I did Keep. Sorin and Esther were a riot. Two people who acted like they were in grammar school with their antics before really understanding their feelings for each other. Two worlds intertwined one normal one not so normal…perfect.

Lily had a mission and Clan Constantin was gonna pay. Braden needed justice and Lily was gonna be the server. Anton wasn’t sure about Lily in her role to Christoph Constantin as his nurse at his time of illness. It seems no one really has concern but Anton. Who is she? What is it about her that nags at him? Besides her beauty and the tingle she made him feel with barely a touch… With Anton caught by Lily in her room, it was when he stood in front of her that she knew he wouldn’t be easy to sway because of the way he made her feel. No Anton filled her mind as much as she filled his but both needed to concentrate on the matters at hand. Anton had a job to do for Christoph and Lily had revenge to plan out… Things heat up between Anton and Lily will each do what they were meant to do?
I must read series for each a standalone but intense reading. Kaye has a great series on her hands with this one.

Reckless Abandon (Gilded Knot Book 1)
by Elle Luckett

Where do I start? Nixie has self esteem issues that run into trust issues and her friend Carl can see beyond that there is beauty. But he doesn’t tell her the party they are going to is gonna unleash that beauty. The Gilded Knot is a BDSM club and let’s just say Nixie is none to thrilled but stays anyway. Jackson who is the manager of The Gilded Knot and a member is introduced to Nixie and for good reason because they are a perfect fit. Both have trust issues but Jackson will earn Nixie’s but forget to have her earn all of his. Each character is broken but can fix each other until……. Jackson has brought out Nixie’s inner sub with his Dominant side, she is a natural once she has a better understanding. They also act outside of the club as people. They find that they have similar commonalities, so they can be people outside of the club. Both have fallen hard for each other and I couldn’t be more happy for them but the past is going to invade (by words spoken) and the happy becomes misery. Can Nixie forgive the one person she let in and trusted with her heart?
Elle you hit this one out of the ballpark and I can’t wait for book 2. You had me felling everything they were feeling and that is great writing. The story flowed nicely and writing from both POV is my all time style.

Dirty Ugly Toy
by K. Webster

OMG! I loved it! It was intriguing with twist and turns. It was intense too. Brad and Jessica two broken souls brought together in a fated way to heal each other’s soul. Jessica brought out the best in Braxton even he had to eventually admit. They both had secrets that came out when they didn’t want them to. It doesn’t end the way you think.

Love in Rewind
by Tali Alexander

I loved this book. Who says love at first sight doesn’t exist, well if this was a reality and not a book it would be proven. Louis and Emily are two worlds that collide from a distance. Even though Emily is still young (18) doesn’t mean she can’t know that the love of her life was standing in the same vicinity as her but is 11 years older. Age really is just a number if the one you love is the one you love. Louis has a past of being a playboy but once he sees Emily all that changes. Emily’s sister Jenna has a party planning business that one night Jenna needs her little sister’s help and that’s where Emily’s life begins. Louis has seen his other half and must meet her but the night they see each other is not the night they meet……..
Wow, Tali’s writing is beautiful in the way she orchestrates the lives she envisions. Loved the music picked as well, being an 80’s kid myself. Tali has brought a new vision of writing by going backwards to understand what lies in fast forward in this we call life in a book.
A must read to a series full of unexpectedness.

Lies in Rewind
by Tali Alexander

Another one out of the ballpark! This one had me wondering what would happen to Louis and Emily but it played it’s part because this was about Sarah and Jeff. This is their story and the lies it created in everyone’s lives around them. Sarah has been two people, slut Sarah and lies Sarah and neither wanted to exist. Jeff is the cause of both Sarah’s and he himself is two people because of his selfishness to have two worlds exist in one. But to start off this roller coaster is Emily, Louis and Liam (William). Emily is broken thinking Louis have left her so she runs away to the unknown and into Liam. Liam is part of Louis’ past by being the brother of a girl (Isa) that loved Louis but not herself. Isa made Liam believe Louis was a bad guy (in his bachelor days) but he finds Emily and changes his ways but Liam doesn’t believe. Sarah and Emily have a plan but Emily backs out and Sarah carries on with it (to meet Liam). Jeff shows up unaware of Sarah and Liam because this is the name Sarah leaves for Liam to gain access to her suite. Liam walks in on Jeff leaving thinking it was Louis and him having a mistress but that’s not what it looks like. Sarah wakes to Liam and then their worlds collide and who knows what will happen next…..
Great job again Tali ❤ I have enjoyed book 2 as much as book 1. This is definitely a great series of multiple lives that interact together in one way or another. Must read. Hope book 3 is just as good 🙂

Lost in Rewind
by Tali Alexander

Holy cow was almost disappointed…..
Now that I’ve said that I’m sure how to describe the events in this book. This one is about Jeffery and Sarah but not Sarah that we have already read about, so with that I will say no more.
I will say I loved this series very much. Tali you have done well with the Audio Fools series, Congratulations!! can’t appraise you on this series enough. Tali’s writing is spectacularly well done in this series she brings us many lives that intertwine and how they all interact and the significance of them all.

Saber Chronicles Volume One (Saber Chronicles, #1-4)
by R.E. Butler

Loved It!! I was given this book in return for an honest review. Very well written. Each book held a certain intrigue for each family member and you wanted to know what would happen next. It was a different twist on shifters and how they find their true mate. Can’t wait for a sequel to find out how everyone is doing in their relationships (like weddings and cubs due date(s)).

Victoria’s Top Reads of 2016

Here’s to trying to keep this small enough! I’ve 10 individual books. Lord knows I’ve got other I can add! I really like series it seems this year.  ~ Victoria

Clean Sweep (Venom, #1)
by V.L. Locey

This is possibly one of the best hockey romance stories I’ve read!
I literally fell in love with Jane before I hit page 2. This is the woman I hope I can be when I’m her age. She’s fiery, passionate, driven, and dedicated. Jane coaches strong hockey teams, demands the best from her players and from herself. There’s only one tarnish to her dedication and that’s her ex-husband and hockey star turned recruiter, Tore. And did I mention he is absolutely delicious? But where do you not want to run into your ex-husband? Your new job. Jane may fumble at first but once she finds her feet, you’ll ride her thoughts and passions right along with her as she builds the dream team she hopes to turn the Philadelphia Venom, the new woman’s professional hockey team she’s now coaching. Tore only complicates matters and ignites all the loss and pain from years past.
I devoured this book in less than a day, dying to know what happens with Tore and with the Venom. But fret not, readers, Locey will not disappoint with another book, Twirly Girl, who will let you follow the Venom along for their ride. You will love Jane and Tore beyond reason before you realize it.  5 Stars

Twirly Girl (Venom, #2)
by V.L. Locey

If you loved the Venom head coach in Clean Sweep, fall in love with our captain, Alicia. Perfect daughter of a state senator, Alicia’s passion for hockey is what drives her every decision. But what happens when even that love and dedication is questioned? Alicia starts to question it all when she meets Dale, and his daughter Wren. Dale is your classic man born in the wrong era. He would have fit right in with Woodstock, preferring a free spirited approach to everything. And he seems to be exactly what our strong headed captain is searching for. Her heart and head collide as she struggles to come to terms with her new found passion, and battle for her spot in the team roster. If I thought Jane was everything someone needed to be, Alicia will meld her passion and love for hockey with the passion and free spirit Dale brings to her.
Another amazing addition to a series I’m on the edge of my seat to continue! Join the Venom and battle along with them for their love of hockey and for their hearts! 5 Stars

Tape to Tape (Venom Series #3)
by V.L. Locey

I couldn’t love this series more if I tried! Another addition to the Venom Series, we get to know our defensive coach, none other than Dorothy “The Shadow” West. Professional defensive player turned coach, Dot has a don’t need no man attitude when it comes to life, both professionally and personally. Raising her daughter alone, all she cares about is protecting her women and making sure they win. But what happens when she goes toe to toe with the one man who seems hell bent on talking down the Venom every chance he gets? Coach West won’t allow her women to be slandered so vehemently on radio so she takes matters into her own hands and opens that Pandora’s box to take us on another ride.
Getting to know these amazing women one story at a time has been a pleasure, and I can’t wait for the next installment. Locey knocks it into the crease with these fabulously written, strong women opening their hearts to love and passion, melding that with passion for hockey. If there’s one book I recommend you pick up, it’s the Venom Series. 5 Stars

LOST (Captive Heart #1)
by Carrie Aarons

Where do I even begin telling you how amazing this book is? For the first time in a while, I’ve been left with that hollow feeling of finishing a book and not at all wanting it to ever end.
Charlotte is a quiet, subdued woman who has spent her entire life trying to live up to the unreal expectations of her mother and her own ideas. Tucker Lynch is everything you’d think of an ex-star athlete, injured before his big break. Their worlds collide in an atomic bomb when they rediscover each other in the most unlikely way, a bank robbery. But not just any bank robbery, Tucker robbing Charlotte’s bank. Of all the banks, in all the cities, he picks the one woman who’s ever had a hold on him and he seems to be the only man who’s ever come close to her heart.
This sets in motion a roller-coaster of emotion, pain, confessions, and most of all, healing from pasts too hard to face. These two lost souls hold each other up in the most unlikely of times, helping to close the old wounds they didn’t know were still open.
Get lost with Tucker and Charlotte, and you’ll be praying they never get found. A book I could not pry myself away from, you’ll be begging for the sequel by the end, or screaming for it with me. 5 Stars

FOUND (Captive Heart #2)
by Carrie Aarons

How do you describe the perfect ending to a series? Carrie Aarons managed to create a perfect story with Charlotte and Tucker.
In the first installment, Lost, we met Charlotte and Tucker, childhood friends from different families both carrying heartache and disappointment from their parents. But they find each other again, when both are lost, and they help each other find what they were missing. We leave them on the cliffhangers of all cliffhangers, and find them again 3 years later. Tucker, fresh out of prison, and Charlotte having changed her life and centered it around Tucker.
Their love undergoes new trials, and hardships and they can either fight for it together, or risk losing it all. Their love and their story will gripe you in Lost and will fill your heart again in Found.
Often, I’m struck feeling like something was missing from the end of a series but this…. Carrie has outdone herself in every facet, and created the perfect story for those of us who love a good love/heartbroken series. So beyond highly recommend, I literally couldn’t figure out how to describe perfection for days after finishing. 5 Stars

Marek (Knights Corruption MC Series, #1)
by S. Nelson

Bad boy lovers, we have a new favorite. I present Marek, a bad boy biker extraordinaire! What I will start with saying, this novel does contain some graphic scenes involving rape and torture, those with queasy stomachs may chose to skip a few pages here and there, although these are essential to the story. Now on to the good stuff, Sulley, a young woman forced into the motorcycle club life by her father and pawned off to the first bad soul that would have her. Sulley brings you into her despair and her depressing life where she sees no sign of an exit. Marek, president of a rival club, is just the man to save a lost soul and he doesn’t even know it. Lost in his own world of revenge, and running his club legit, Marek doesn’t even know what hit him when he and Sulley cross paths. Join this bad-ass couple on a ride you’ll remember. Your heart will grow as these two grow and you’ll be on the edge of your seat to find out what happens! I couldn’t put it down. First of a series, I’m counting the days until the Knights of Corruptions come back.
4.5 stars

Stone (Knights Corruption MC Series, #2)
by S. Nelson

If you, like me, fell in love with the Knights of Corruptions in Marek, you will adore Stone. Hot, both physically and tempered, Stone is second in command in the Knights of Corruptions, a motorcycle club in the process of going legit. Adelaide is a beautiful nurse who happens to be called in when someone needs patching. She also happens to be a member’s niece who is desperately trying to keep her distance from the club to not be pulled into their mayhem and danger.
But what happens when the danger calls to your heart in the shape of a sexy, rugged VP? Addy can’t seem to resist Stone in all his tempting ways, never-mind the threat from her uncle for all members to keep their distance.
Come along for the ride of your life, Stone will capture your heart and heat while you wish you could be Addy.
I’ll be sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what happens next!
5 stars

Jagger (Knights Corruption MC Series, #3)
by S. Nelson

Now that I’ve taken a cold shower, let me tell you about the men you’ll soon be dying to know. Knights of Corruption, my favorite biker gang going legit, is filled with the strongest and toughest men you’ll ever meet. To become one, there’s no higher an honor. The young and so sexy Jagger, an up and coming underground fighter, just so happens to be a prospect to the club. Hard as nails from his years of abuse, Jagger fits in well with the men who give him family but there seems to be something missing. Seeing the happiness a partner brings some of his brothers, Jagger may be young by age but his heart is old.
Kena, beautiful enticing, Kena. This mysterious woman is another added to my list of “Can I please just be you?”. Kena is the exact opposite of Jagger. Where he is rash and quick to act, Kena is reserved. Where he is violent, Kena is peaceful. Where he is loud, Kena is quiet….well mute actually. Jagger loses his heart to her before he even knows what happened. But living in the world he does, in the danger he does, can he really bring his heart and soul into that danger with him?
Another incredible ride with KC! I finished this in two nights (only because I have to like actually work). Jagger is now on my list of dream men because the Knights are not boys, these are not the little boys who will take your heart and break it, these are the men who take your heart and guard it with theirs. I cannot sing high enough praises for this series. I’ve completely fallen in love and cannot at all wait for the next installment. 5 stars

Christine’s Top Reads of 2016

Wow, what a year! 2016 was filled with amazing books and new to me authors.  I had a goal of 150 books to read this year and I finished with 170.  Out of all these books I had 15 that stood out and stuck with me after reading them. 5 books are brand new to me authors, one was her first novel.   So in the order I read the books here is my top reads of 2016!  ~ Christine

Taking Mine (Breaking Habits #1)

Taking Mine by Rachel Schneider isn’t a cookie cutter traditional romance you find released each week. In her debut novel Rachel has created a layered romance with a twist that had me unable to put down my Kindle till the end.

Lilly hasn’t had it easy growing up, raised by her older brother Kip, her parents non existent. Lilly learned to make ends meet by any means possible, going without and using her feisty personality to get herself out of trouble. Growing up around her older brother in a shop has given her a certain set of skills. In walks Justin when Lilly least expects it. Justin is wild, sexy and just what she’s trying to avoid. Justin is persistent and weaves his way into Lilly’s daily life. Will Lilly let her guard down to let Justin in? Is Justin the one to be able to earn her trust in all things?

The beginning of this novel was a bit of a slow burn but it’s worth the wait. About half way through you’ll be hooked – I didn’t want to put it down. I found the crime/mystery twist refreshing and even emotional so emotional I was wiping tears trying to focus on my kindle. This book had everything – action, mystery, laughter & tears. You’ll be so attached to these characters by the final chapter you won’t want to see “The End”, I know I didn’t. Fantastic Debut – 5 Stars!

L is for Luminous

L is for Luminous is freaking fantastic! Amity Cross has created such a page turner in L is for Luminous that I couldn’t put it down so much that I didn’t go to bed the day I started it till after 2:30AM because I needed to see how this finished.

Lux Dawson is a geeky sci-fi writer who needs a break. Lux has had a rough start in life and is barely scraping by. When she gets stuck in an elevator at a comic convention the last person on the earth she thought she would be stuck with is Jude Atwood sexy star of televisions hottest sci-fi show in America. Jude has it all – a hit tv show, a gorgeous Hollywood girlfriend and screaming fans who would want more? After the door are forced open Lux & Jude lives will change.

I loved this book so hard. It’s geek references where on point. I love television and love behind the scenes stuff so a glimpse into that world really held my interest. Amity had me hooked and believed these characters struggles and what they needed to over come. It’s not your traditional romance and I loved it for that because it felt real! 5 freaking fantastic stars to L is for Luminous by Amity Cross.

Pucked Over (Pucked #3)

Helena Hunting has a Hat Trick with Pucked Over the 3rd novel in the Pucked series. The wit is back in Lily thoughts – a little tamer than Violets mouth but hilarious no less. We met Lily and Randy in Pucked Up (Miller & Sunny’s Story). I can honestly say I didn’t like Lily but it was her meddling ways in Miller & Sunny’s relationship that left a bad taste in my mouth. Lily’s redemption is Pucked Over!

Lily LeBlanc hasn’t had an easy start at life, working 2 jobs & supporting herself through University. Lily’s father is a ex-pro hockey player who didn’t want anything to do with her and her mother being a puck bunny in her younger years has instilled in her that all hockey players are unfaithful users. Lily loved figure skating and on the brink of her Olympic dreams – daddy dearest stops the payments. Just getting out of a 7 year relationship with her high school boyfriend the last thing Lily wants is to jump into another relationship but can she do casual sex? Randy Ballistic, NHL Player, loves what he does. Randy grew up only knowing hockey, his father an ex-NHLer as well, he saw the dark side of the business. Randy saw how his mom dealt with his father’s inability to keep it in his pants and swore to himself he would never do that to some one else so casual relationships are his standard. Funny thing is emotions don’t follow rules…

I loved this story so hard! It had everything for me, laughs, hot sex & a great story with emotional twists. It’s told in Dual POV which is perfect because reading Lily’s thoughts really made me love her and Randy showed more of a softer side which for the strong hockey player made him more endearing. Bringing back the previous characters we’ve fell in love with in the previous books was fantastic the Pucked world is one we all want to live in. You can never have enough of Violet’s fowl mouth (Pun completely intended!) and the sappiness that is Miller & Sunny’s cutesy relationship. Pucked Over I’m pretty sure will stand as one of my best reads of 2016 and we are still in January! 5 Stars but if I could it would be more…

L. Sommers has hit it out of the park with Wishbone book one of the Game On trilogy. This sexy romance between Alli & Chris, a.k.a. Shane McCall, #1 pitcher for the San Diego Sun Devils left me speechless. Alli Bane is fresh from leaving her long time live in boyfriend she’s flying to San Deigo when her plane misses it’s connection in Dallas. Chris/Shane can’t stop looking at Alli he see something even through the heartache that is drawing him to her. Stories are shared, wishes are made and a closeness that either can explain is had over an evening. Fate intervenes a few weeks later after each of them think they’ve lost each other, but things have changed and walls have been put up and trust becomes a huge factor. Can a connection made in an airport evolve to more?

I love a good sports romance but this the emotional pull these characters had on me was something else. I could not put this book down – devouring it in two sitting! The story wasn’t wrapped up in a neat little ball but had layers that made you want to find out more and the sub characters are so well developed that I’m just itching to know more about them. The feels this book brought out in me – oh my… I can not wait for the next book in the series! 5 bat flips for L. Sommers Wishbone.

PS – How hot is Wishbones cover? Oh my Matthew Hosea… Wow

Red Card

Carrie Aarons has done it again! SCORE! Red Card is funny, spicy & intriguing all rolled into one amazing package. Leah Watson life has been turned upside down when her high school sweetheart and top prospect for NHL draft dumps her after years of planning their future together. Now Leah must grab hold of the reins of her own future and an opportunity to study and intern with a top PA company is just what she needs to get her life back on track for herself. Killian Ramsey, British football’s star and bad boy, is a broken man but puts on a cocky face to the media. When Leah walks into his life he knows he has to have her at all costs, even if that means forcing her to work for him. When things become to real for Killian will he go back to his old hateful guarded ways? Will Leah break her promise to herself to not put someone’s future before her own or will she fall back to what she’s only known?

This book floored me! I read it in one day, I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between this two characters is undeniable and the heat was off the charts! I loved the fish out of water aspect with Leah traveling to London and experiencing living in a different country. Killian back story was heart breaking and I understood why he took out his pain the way he did. Leah’s personal struggle to break the mold she’s put herself in before and not repeat her mistakes is realistic and completely relate-able. I truly wish I could give this book more than 5 Stars because it deserves it. Carrie Aarons doesn’t disappoint again! Truly a go to author in my books!

The Slam

The Slam by Haleigh Lovell is a smart, sexy, grounded friends to lovers romance with a twist. Ender Hemsworth, tennis star of UC Berkeley, lives with his brother while going to school. When the brothers receive a letter informing them Adelaide Vikander is to be picked up from the airport and will be taking their spare-bedroom while going to Berkeley as a first year, past memories are brought up of summers spent in the outback in Australia. Adelaide was diagnosed with Asperger’s as a young teen and had a hard time socially with people growing up but can’t wait for a fresh start with people who don’t know her. Both Ender and Adelaide find ways to coach one another but in doing so sometimes, in the name of science, lines are crossed.

It’s hard to put this book into words how original it is. Adelaide’s Asperger’s causes her to bluntly ramble on facts and take things very literately, which makes for some fantastically interesting facts. It’s not often, while reading a romance, I learn interesting odd facts. I devoured this book in less than 12 hrs and it only took that long because I had to sleep! The dialogue is some of the wittiest I’ve read in ages. Both of these characters are so relatable you can help but fall in love with them. This book will have you on the edge at one moment, laughing the next and heart melting soon after. Oh and chemistry between our leads is white hot and pantie melting to say the least! The only part I didn’t enjoy was coming to the end of the book. I truly hope we will see these characters again – pretty please!

Jersey Girl by Rhonda James is a best friend’s sister romance with heart, so much heart. Cassie Rivers heading into Sophomore year of College she transferred to GLU not only for a change but to be closer to her brother, Scotty Rivers star goalie for hockey team and drafted by the Red Wings, in his final year of school. A music student, Cassie’s just looking to fit in and make new friends and really find her way in life, needing to get away from a ex who won’t take no for an answer. When she wakes up wrapped around a hot as H-E-Double Hockey Sticks man who she can’t take her eyes off. Brantley Cage thinks he’s dreaming when a beautiful blonde is wrapped around him in his bed, only it’s not a dream and it’s soon to be a nightmare when he finds out she’s his roommates sister and he can’t touch her. Bro-Code states you will not touch a friend’s sister but Brantley can’t get Cassie out of his mind, those eyes, that body, he’s hooked. Brantley is juggling so much, school, hockey, work and friends can he just be friends with a girl when he’s known for being a player? Why does what’s forbidden always taste sweeter?

Sweet baby this book was everything I needed and more. I laughed, I cried (a few times) and I smiled a lot while reading Jersey Girl. These two characters took me on an emotional ride through realizing that love can strike when you least expect it. Love will blindside you and take your breath away, like a hard check into the boards. Oh, the “feels” this book gave me. I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Cassie is adorable, emotional, looking to reconnect with her brother before he leaves for good for the NHL. I really felt for her just looking for just a piece of the closeness she once shared with her brother, hold on to the hope he’ll respect and acknowledge her talent at some point. Brantley is a swoon worthy hero on skates battling his own personal demons to overcome his fear of relationships all the while he can’t let go of his friendship with Cassie and wants more but respects her so much he doesn’t want to hurt her or his relationship with his best friend, Scotty.

This book was amazing, epic and I adore and worship the ground it walks on. Rhonda James has created a masterpiece with Jersey Girl and I can’t wait to see what comes next with these characters. No pressure but Davis’s story is going to kill me I just know it. If you’ve enjoyed Elle Kennedy’s Off Campus series or Sarina Bowen’s Ivy League series you’ll fall in love with Jersey Girl too! 5 off the charts Stars for Jersey Girl by Rhonda James.

Toward the Sound of Chaos

What would you do if you were broken? Would you just live day to day and not take a chance on what could be the best thing to happen to you? Or would you take your life back despite the broken pieces and try to become whole again? Towards the Sound of Chaos is a beautifully broken second chance love story. When I say second chance it’s not that these characters know each other before hand it’s that they are taking a second chance at life.

Ellie Mason, single mother to an autistic son, Spence, has good days and bad days. Running from her past life Ellie settled in Fairhope, Alabama and made a life for herself and her son. All her energy is spent on Spence and caring for his needs but she can’t help herself and look at the tall, dark and handsome marine veteran even if he doesn’t give anyone the time of day. Jake Tucker came home from the war broken. Held captive by the enemy and tortured, Jake has PTSD and survivor’s guilt along with a physically damaged body to go along with these. Nuke, his dog, is the only company he has but when he comes to the rescue of Ellie and Spence something changes and maybe just maybe he can let someone in. Or will Jake let his demons overshadow the best thing to happen to him in years?

Hauntingly beautiful is what this story is. Each chapter drew you into the story more and wouldn’t let you go. Ellie is such a strong, beautiful character just trying to do the best for her son who requires so much attention all the while trying to fight the fact that she needs love and attention as well. Jake is so broken and damaged and all the time you are reading about his fight with his demons you know that this is what some veterans are faced with each and every day. This book emotionally gutted me at times, I really wanted to throw my kindle which shows that Carmen did her job. I became emotionally invested into these characters and that makes for an amazing ride. If I could give this novel more than 5 stars I would but I can tell you this – this book will be on my best of 2016 list and possibly on the top of it. 5 Massive Stars for Towards the Sound of Chaos by Carmen Jenner

Lethal Temptations (Tempted #5)

Leather & Lace… Temptations… Addictions… Forbidden Love… Lethal Temptations is the 5th book in the Tempted series by Janine Infante Bosco. Set over the timeline of the past two novels in the series and going beyond, Lethal can be read as a standalone but it would be better enjoyed if read in series order.

Dominic “Blackie” Petra, vice president of Satan’s Knights MC, has demons following him we can only dream of in our worst nightmares. Haunted by the loss of his wife, addictions to numb the pain and tormented by the idea of bringing someone else into his hell hole of pain, Blackie has isolated himself even from his brotherhood. His light, an angel, someone who’s always been around and loved him even at his lowest but does he see her? Lacey Parrish, daughter of Satan’s Knights president, might be young in age (19) but has felt a lifetime of pain and torment. Fallen in love with a man much older than her, unattainable, and broken now all she can hope is he see’s her for who she really is. Darken by her own demons can Lacey hold them at bay to bring them both into the light?

I’ve been addicted to this series since the start and I’ve been waiting for this book for what feels like ages. Leather & Lace. Blackie & Lacey’s story is heartbreaking, soul searching and emotional ride that I knew would break me. Lethal Temptations not only broke me but also rebuilt me, piece by shattered piece. A knight and an Angel. A tragic love story with light at the end of the road. Janine is amazing at what she does and this felt like a master piece. Thank you for bring us these characters and this story. By far Lethal Temptations one of my favorite books of 2016. 5 Massive Stars…

Lumbersexual is a sweet and spicy romance set in picturesque Yosemite National Park that will grab a hold of you from the 1st page and not let go till “The End”. Maggie Washington, recent college graduate, is packing up and spending a summer working in Yosemite National Park. Not sure what she wants to do with her degree this summer Maggie goal is to find herself what better place is there than Yosemite. Maggie hasn’t had luck with men, always being friend-zoned or a fling but when tattooed, bearded and flannel wearing Court walked into her life she can’t help but wanna roll around in front of a fire on a bearskin rug with the hunk. Court Thompson has a reputation with the ladies – love them and leave them – an expert at a summer fling but when he sees Maggie for the first time he falls hard. Court challenges Maggie to take on her fears and live outside the box but doing so has her questioning her live goals. Can a summer fling mean more? What happens when the leaves fall, nights get longer and colder?

Lumbersexual is a breath of fresh air. Sweet and spicy with just the right amount of heat and that’s not from the campfires if you know what I mean. Leslie has created a beautiful love story between two souls in a perfect setting that is fast paced but doesn’t feel rushed. I loved the picture Leslie painted of Yosemite and as a Canadian girl who loves our nature to me this was not just a setting but a third character in the story. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves romance novels as this novella has a little bit for everyone! 5 ooey gooey s’mores for Lumbersexual by Leslie McAdam

Steadfast by Sarina Bowen is the 2nd novel in the True North series and tells the story of Jude whom we met in Bittersweet. So different than Bittersweet, Steadfast is heartbreaking story of second chance love with a hint of mystery and multi-layered. Overcoming addiction, rebuilding and dealing with loss is at the heart of Steadfast. Both our leads lives are changed because of addiction in a blink of an eye and the outcome is harrowing.

Jude Nickel’s life changed when he drove his classic porsche into a tree which killed another passenger. After serving his time for the crime readjusting to life beyond the prison walls as a recovering addict and the last place Jude wants to be is home in Colebury, Vermont. In a small town news spreads fast and when you’re the ex-con who killed the chief of police’s son you have a pretty big spotlight on your every move. Jude’s father owns a small auto repair shop so to earn some money and experience Jude, 6 months clean, tries to keep busy and away from old habits. Jude didn’t expect her to still be in Colebury, she should have been in New York or some other school off chasing her dreams but instead she’s here and even more beautiful. Sophie Haines life changed on a spring day losing her brother and having her boyfriend jailed for his death. Sophie dreamed of being a singer but after the family loss her mother shut down emotionally and physically her plans changed and dreams shattered. Blamed for her brothers death by her father and never let to forget it Sophie hopes for a day she can move out of her ‘cold’ family home. Drawn to each other like a moth to a flame Jude and Sophie can’t deny their attraction and chemistry even after years have past and events can’t be undone. With so much against them it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I can’t even express to you how much I adored this book! It’s emotional, heartbreaking and sensual all rolled into one. Jude is broken coming off the lowest point and fighting the twinge of addiction every single day why trying to piece back together his life. It’s hard not to fall for Jude and side with him and his struggles. Addiction in some form has touched every one so even though we don’t know Jude we all know someone with a similar story. Sophia has been broken down emotionally and physically from her family that she’s just a shell of the person she once was before the accident. A victim herself she never places blame and fights through it all hoping things will get better. This book will break you and rebuild you but I didn’t expect to feel this attached and invested to the characters from the start. The touch of suspense that Sarina added to the story as perfect and kept me glued to my kindle. 5 Black Forest Cakes for Steadfast by Sarina Bowen, if I could give it more I would – this is for sure on of my favorite reads of 2016

Eminent Love

Eminent Love by Leddy Harper is a story of lost love told by the male POV. Loss, heartbreak and choices are at the heart of Eminent Love beautiful tale of true love. A truly refreshing change in storytelling for me. Flipping from present day to 6 years in the past to tell the story of Creed & Layne relationship.

Creed is so focused on school and his plan in life when asked to take out his roommates sister to the movies he want to say no and focus on his studies but his gut tell him to take a chance. Picking Layne up he’s stunned by her appearance and feels an instant attraction knowing he’s going to break all the rules he’s set for himself. Layne is shy and self conscious of her appearance but willing to take the time to get to know Creed and agreeing to a second date.

I won’t tell you anything else about the story as you must read it! This book gutted me. I was sobbing like a small child and needed to take breaks because I couldn’t see my kindle through the tears. This was my first novel I’ve read by Leddy Harper. She has a way to leading you to think one thing and it’s completely opposite, which I love when that happens! Her writing is beyond my expectations and having this story told from the male point of view I think made it that much more emotional and original. Hands down a top pick for best of 2016! 5 Stars for Eminent Love by Leddy Harper

Stroked Long (Stroked #2)

Stroked Long is the second book in Meghan Quinn’s “Stroked” series. This sexy emotional read hooked me from the prologue and didn’t let go! Bodi Banks has experienced trauma that few have had to go through and excelled in a sport that even fewer can. As an Olympic class swimmer Bodi relies on routine but that has bled over into his personal life as a coping mechanism. Challenged with the task of opening a foundation he’s pair to work with Ruby Hearts, a feisty awkward art major who is under employed. Ruby can’t believe she’s going to be working alongside the incredibly hot Bodi Banks, whom she and half the planet have a crush on. Though it doesn’t take long for Ruby to notice that Bodi is very closed off but when she can get past that wall for a few seconds it’s completely worth it.

This book was the complete package! Romantic, funny, heartbreaking, emotional and frustrating and I adored it. Following Bodi & Ruby’s journey to love was a complete pleasure and so easy to read. I’m happy to report that the scenes with Bellini are fantastic! We see a different perspective and I thoroughly enjoyed it – Muhahahaha… I didn’t enjoy Stroked because of Bellini but honestly I now see why she was essential to the series – I know I said it! Stroked Long can be read as a standalone and you’d still enjoy it so whatever you do don’t miss out on this amazing story that will be in my top of 2016 list! 5 double stuffed oreo stars for Stroked Long by Meghan Quinn

Beauty Mark

Beauty Mark by Stephie Walls is a roller coaster of a journey about love and loss spanning over 12 years. This multi-layered romance doesn’t follow the typical tropes and from the first chapter I was hooked. Callie Clark has always wanted to be a writer, though stuck in a dead end job in a cubicle she sets out on a plan to change her path. This is Callie’s story of finding love, overcoming heartbreak and learning to let others in. I’m keeping my summery super short because I don’t want to give away one single thing about this story so you can experience this beautiful story as it’s meant to be. The cast of characters throughout this story will grip you as much as our lead, if not more at times. You’ll run the entire range of emotions – possibly a couple of times – while reading Beauty Mark. This was my first full length novel by Stephie Walls and I can tell you right now it won’t be my last. 5 stunningly beautiful stars for Beauty Mark by Stephie Walls – One of my top reads of 2016!

The Coach and the Secret (New Hampshire Bears #5)

The Coach and the Secret by Mary Smith is book I won’t soon forget. It’s heartbreaking, emotional and at times very hard to read. Mary warns the reader in the description/blurb this is a adult story and deals with domestic violence and even though I knew what I was getting myself into – nothing prepared me for this story. It was a gut wrenching and at times ripped my heart out but the way this story is told gives you hope for coach and his daughter and niece. I finished this story in less than a day. I couldn’t put it down. The Coach and the Secret was a difficult read but this novel is my top read of 2016 and believe everyone should read this important story. All proceeds are being donated to a victim of domestic violence. Beyond 5 Stars for The Coach and the Secret by Mary Smith
