The last book of To The Bone series. It’s starts right off where book two did. Gabe still having bad dreams thinking he killed Caitlin and still trying to find her. Caitlin moved to Hawaii but came back to her old home her father died so she’s going to the funeral. Will Gabe finally find Caitlin? Will Caitlin be able to keep the family together and sort through all the lies and damage? Will Gabe get his memories back? This book was absolutely perfect ending of this series! I couldn’t put it down! Drama, shocking, love and forgiveness! Seriously a must read series! 5/5 stars!

Lainey sees James at a convention then gets stuck with him on a train and she ends up going to James house and having a one night stand. Months go by and Lainey ends up at the same law firm  where James is. James, Lainey finds out he doesn’t do relationships at all but wants to continue a non relationship with Lainey but that’s not her style at all. Lainey ends up going to a club and next min she wakes up in James bed after someone drugged her. Lainey then says if she agrees to just sleeping with him now and then but no one at work can know what’s going on Lainey doesn’t want to lose her job or having people thinking she slept with James to get it. Lainey goes on a date with Davis the photographer he’s sweet and good guy but he’s not James. Lainey’s brother keeps telling her to stay away from James that he will hurt her. James wants a relationship with Lainey but because of his past he’s afraid and she is too that he will hurt her. Girls in James past come out and  Lainey ends up almost getting hurt. Lainey finds out the truth about everything and now will James finally open his heart to her and only want Lainey? Will Lainey be able to trust James? A lot of back and fourth drama in this series but also hot sex! 4 Stars

What’s Left of Me by Jennifer Loring is the continuation of Aleksandr & Stephanie’s story from Firebird, book one in the trilogy, which must be read in order. This is a sexy multi-layered romance with true to life elements and touches on a variety taboo topics including sexual assault & mental illness. Aleksandr Volynsky, retired NHL player after a career ending injury, finally feels at peace. With the offer of coaching in the NHL, his childhood sweetheart as his wife and a child on the way life couldn’t get better for Aleksandr. Living the celebrity lifestyle has given him quite the reputation but when he’s accused of sexual assault his world starts to crumble. Stephanie Hartwell, loves her job and her family but when diagnosed with a life threatening illness she starts to question everything including her place in the family and can she fight for what she loves and herself too? There’s so many levels to this novel that it’s elevated beyond what I expected and what we see touched upon in most romance novels. Mental illness, sexual assault, life threatening illness, drug & alcohol abuse and even the standard box we fit mothers and fathers into are all part of this fantastic story. 5 beautiful stars and I can’t wait for the next and final installment of Aleksandr & Stephanie!

Stephanie sat at the tiny, square kitchen table in a tiny, square studio apartment. Dust lined the moldings and the slats on the blinds, darkened the forgotten crevices on bookshelves and in the entertainment center. The white walls were dingy with age and disregard. Thick, acrid tension clung to the air and crawled into her throat, into her belly, curdling her insides.

“Um…can I get you something to drink?”

Shiny, dark hair poured over Courtney’s shoulders and down her back. Black liner emphasized her large brown eyes. More makeup than that was superfluous, and she knew it. Her clothes, while not tight fitting, revealed enviable curves in all the right places. Pretty, and young. She’d been barely legal with Alex.

“Why do you want the money?”

Courtney’s hard eyes adopted a haunted expression. “I don’t know how else to get it. It would take me decades to save enough. My mom is in hospice, and the medical bills—I mean, she lost the house, and now I’m in this shithole—” She swept her arm. She was biting her lip, but the tears came anyway. “I had to drop out of school, so I’ve got those loans too.”

“So you decided to blackmail my husband.”

“He’s the only person I know who has the money, and I had this video… It’s fine if you think I’m a slut. So does everyone else. I’m not a sick kid, so who gives a shit about me, right?”

“Let me see it,” Stephanie murmured.

Courtney wiped her eyes and cleared her throat. “Even I don’t want you to see it.”

“That bad? Was it…” Stephanie barely mustered the courage to ask. “Consensual?”

Courtney darted her gaze away. “Most of it.”

Oh, God. Stephanie forced down her gorge.

“Everyone has secrets, you know? There’s a side of him he doesn’t want you to see.”

“It was two years ago.”

“How much do people really change? They say they do, but all they’ve done is put a coat of paint on a house with structural damage.”

“You know he’s bipolar. When he’s hypomanic, he takes risks. Mostly sexually.”

“Maybe. Or maybe it brought out a part of him that was there all along.”

No. Not the Alex I knew. Know. “I want to see it.”

“You don’t.” Courtney sighed and set a laptop on the table, opened the lid, and clicked a few buttons. She turned it so it was facing Stephanie. “I’ll be outside.”

“Thank you.”

Courtney stepped into the hall. Stephanie stared at the dark, grainy image in the media player. She could make out two pale shapes that resembled human bodies.

She took a deep breath to steady her shaking hand, then tapped Play.

It was Alex all right. Despite the poor quality, his voice—and the body whose every ridge and scar she knew intimately—confirmed it. The old Alex, bigger, uninjured, and unaware of the havoc his neurochemicals were wreaking on his brain. She’d allowed for some foolish hope that both Courtney and Alex were mistaken, that they had mutually misremembered it. Each second that crawled by, she wished for the strength to stop watching, to give Courtney the money and piece their lives back together. There was no good reason to view this except to permanently warp her vision of the man she had sworn to protect from himself.

Ignorance was bliss. Knowledge was power. She could not have both.

Will can’t take his eyes off the girl with glasses and wants to get to know Georgia. Georgia and Will hit it off instantly. Will Georgia get her one night stand or more? Can Will get Georgia to open up about her past? Some parts had me laughing and smiling very good short story! 5 Stars

Chapter 1

Georgia Burke slipped a hand down her hip, smoothing her favorite skirt in place as the summer breeze whipped across the lake. The last thing she needed was to flash the Drunken Duck patrons on the patio a look at her girly bits. Granted, they were covered in her sexiest pair of cream lace panties, and she was here to pick up a hot man to do the dirty with, but her newfound brazen spirit only went so far.

If she was lucky it would actually survive until she ordered a drink at the bar.

Georgia’s confidence crumbled as she made her way to the front entrance of the pub and a group of guys on the patio started laughing. Two pointed at her and the third whipped his head around to see her. They all had classically good looks, short hair and lean muscles behind fitted t-shirts. Young. They snickered at her expense again, but she squared her shoulders and moved into the interior of the pub.

Fuck them and their frat boy mentality.

Women came in all shapes and sizes, and if they expected every female to fit their version of sexy, they were going to be sorely mistaken when they got out in the real world.

Georgia put a little extra swing into her walk as she gathered her confidence again. She had great tits and a curvy build with no shame in showing off. It might’ve taken years to find that confidence, only to have it knocked back by her last boyfriend, but she wasn’t letting any man dictate how she felt about herself ever again.

Fuck that and fuck them.

And with that final thought, she took her size sixteen ass straight to the mahogany bar and ordered a very nice local craft beer on tap. The little pixie behind the bar served it up without fuss and started Georgia a tab.

While she was sipping at her beer and scoping out the crowd, a body bumped into her right arm. The beer splashed down the front of her fitted, white shirt, highlighting the lace bra underneath for anyone to see. After setting her half empty beer down, Georgia turned to face the guy who had yet to apologize or acknowledge he was most definitely in her personal space. It might be a Friday night on the lake, but it was still relatively early and the place wasn’t busting at the seams yet.

It was one of the college boys from the patio. He had a self-satisfied smirk on his face, staring down Georgia’s top but never really looking at her face.

“Nice rack for a fat chick.”

Before she could speak up, the petite bartender scooped up her glass and handed over a stack of bar napkins. “Apologize to the lady.”

“It was an accident.”

The bartender, all five feet nothing of her, leveled the kid across from her with a glare that could melt the skin off his face and said, “Acting like a dick in my bar will get your ass kicked out. Now apologize.”

“Babe, this isn’t even your bar. And I’m a paying customer. No one’s kicking me out.”

Georgia raised a lone eyebrow at the kid’s audacity, but the bartender across from her just threw her head back and laughed. And laughed some more.

When she dropped her head back down there wasn’t any lingering humor on her face. She was all business and looked a little bit deadly.

“That mountain standing behind you,” she lifted a finger to point at a very severe, and very large, man that appeared behind the frat boy, “is my husband.”

“Molly?”

Georgia did a double take when the massive man slapped a hand down on the kid’s shoulder. He was tall, well over six feet, built like a brick house, and completely bald. Dead sexy as well. But that was all secondary to how quickly the frat boy paled when he turned to face Molly’s husband.

“Cal, be a doll and show this dick and his friends off the property.”

The kid sputtered as Cal led him away with a firm grip without another word.

Georgia turned around and faced Molly behind the bar. “Thanks, but you didn’t have to kick anyone out because of me.”

Molly frowned. “Honey, those fucking clowns needed to go. They’re predators and it was just a matter of time before Cal throat punched them. It was my pleasure.”

Even though she smiled, Georgia didn’t know what to say in response to that, so she just started to mop up her wet shirt.

“You vacationing here? Haven’t seen you around before.”

“My brother lives here and I’m house sitting while he’s road tripping with my nephew. I just got in this afternoon.”

“You’re Dane Burke’s kid sister? Georgia, right?”

Georgia’s head snapped up. “You know Dane?”

Molly shrugged. “Small town. He’s neighbors with a good friend of mine. Nice guy. Great kid.”

“Yeah, they’re both pretty great.”

“Welcome to Fox Lake.” She paused, placing a fresh beer down. “Your neighbor in the bungalow is Emma Rae, and her man is Gabe. You let any of us know if you need something while you’re here.”

Georgia nodded, then sat back and took in the petite woman. Small town hospitality at its finest. She might actually like it here. “I appreciate that. I’m a little out of my element right now.”

Molly leaned forward and rested her arms on the bar before speaking. “Stop back in through the week sometime. It’s typically quieter, and I’ll buy you a drink. We’re going to be friends, chick.”

Georgia let a slow smile spread across her face. “I’d like that, Molly.”

“Good. I’ll be back to check on you in a bit. Crowds going to be picking up soon.” She slapped a hand down on the bar before walking away.

Georgia scanned the area again. It looked like everyone was paired off or in groups. So much for her grand plan to score a hot guy for some dirty sex. It was probably a dumb idea anyway. Just because you found your jerk boyfriend sticking it in your friend, in your bed, and in your apartment, doesn’t mean snapping up a random dude at a bar was a good idea.

But it definitely sounded like fun.

I enjoyed this book, though it’s not your typical romance story. The hero, Sam, had a tough childhood, his mam died giving birth to him and his dad never forgave him. As a result of that, Sam doesn’t do relationships or love and has a huge wall wrapped around his heart. Courtney and her son Ben are his tenants, a single mam working 2 jobs, she doesn’t have time for love or relationships. Together the chemistry scorches the pages.There’s a lit of push by Sam, he kniw he wants her but can he commit? Although a short story, it was long enough to cover the important parts. Some bits are difficult to read, but persevere it’s worth it.

I can’t say much more as I don’t want to spoil the story for anyone, told in dual point of view which I loved as we got to hear Seth s side. Hang on to your seat and enjoy the ride, you won’t be disappointed. 4 Stars

I drink in everything about Seth. From his still wet hair, that’s making it shine dark as the glare of the sun catches it, to his chucks.

He is one RV away from me, but he is concentrating on his phone. Just as he reaches me the stupid phone rings. Like always, he gives me a quick smile that settles deep in my heart. I feel my face strain into a smile and then his attention is back to his phone as he answers it. He is always on his phone. I don’t think he knows of my existence, even though we live on the same street, take the same bus, and go to the same school. We even have some of the same classes. He is about to take a shot. His eyes lose focus, and he stands and looks at me. “Why him?”
 
I tilt my head at Nate. I don’t know if they’re reflective of the green felt of the pool table, but right now, his eyes are so piercing and mesmerizing. I swear, he can see right through me.
 
“Why was he worthy of a second date?” he asks.
 
I open my mouth to answer but close it for fear that I’ll say something wrong.
 
Why Brent? Because he’s emotionally available. Because he has the perfect career and a full head of hair and loves cats and classical music and is lukewarm to sports.
 
And, most importantly, because the man I really want to be interested in me is with someone else.
 
“He checks all the boxes.” My voice is low.

“I like the red ones,” Josh said before turning back toward the display of lingerie. “Oh, and this color. Is that teal?” He lifted up the pair of panties and held them out before him.

I smiled as a younger guy three feet away ducked his head in embarrassment.

“Now these would look fucking amazing on you. Damn, baby.” Josh’s eyes gleamed in excitement as he looked up at me. “I may go broke if you keep bringing me to places like these.”

I giggled as I grabbed the pink, lacy, and completely see-through nightie he held in his other hand.

“We’ll take one of these in every color you have,” he hollered to the clerk.

I hid my head against his chest and tickled his sides.

“What?” he grunted and tried to pull back from my assault. “You can’t blame me for trying, sweetheart.

Forget about getting dressed daily. I think you should live in these nighties.”

I tilted my head and looked up at him. “You are insatiable.” I rose up on my tiptoes, bringing my lips close to his. “And extremely adorable.”

He closed the distance and kissed me, wrapping his arm around my waist securely. His tongue rolled with mine, and for a moment I forgot we were standing in the center of a department store. Someone cleared their throat, and I broke the kiss to look over my shoulder. An older salesperson was giving us a disapproving glare.

“Sorry,” I offered. When I turned back to face Josh, he was grinning from ear to ear.

“So—” He waggled his eyebrows suggestively. “—we are getting some of these. Right?”

I lifted up the light pink nightie and shook it in front of his face. “We’ll get this one and the red one,” I assured him as I walked toward the sales clerk at the checkout counter. When I looked back over my shoulder, Josh was smiling brightly and following close behind.

“Now that’s my girl. Looks like tonight we’re staying in.”

I rolled my eyes and turned forward again as he chuckled.
